Karaoke Files
Karaoke files (file extension *.kar) are a special type of midi file with the hymn text embedded in the file. When a karaoake file is played using approapriate software on a computer, the words for each stanza are displayed and highlighted in sync with the music. Most midi file players can play the sound from karaoke midi files, however only karaoke-capable software can be used to view the embedded words.

Here is a sample karaoke midi file that you can right-click and download to your computer, and then play the music and see the words scroll using your karaoke player software: Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful (4 stanzas).

Note: If you just click the hymn title link, a new window will open and the karaoke file will be played using your default karaoke player (if you have one installed). If Apple
Quicktime is your default player, a small player with limited controls will appear and play the hymn with scrolling words. Much better results can be achieved if you download the karaoke file to your computer and then play it directy on your karaoke player.

If a karaoke player isn't already installed on your computer, your can download the Apple Quicktime player at no cost. Quicktime is available for both Apple and Windows computers. Quicktime is widely used on the web and may already be installed on your computer.
