The LW Hymn Lyrics Text Files provide hymn stanza text for the public domain hymns found in Lutheran Worship. The files are ASCII format (also referred to as 'plain text' format), a widely used format for storing text files on computers. The format is compatible with many text editors and word processing software, such as Microsoft Word. This is useful for "cutting & pasting" hymn text into other documents, such as worship bulletins and choir handouts. |
One text file is provided for each hymn. Each file contains a the hymn number and title, the hymn's tune title, the stanzas arranged in the order they appear in the hymnal (including repeated refrains). Composer and copyright information is provided at the end of the text file. The text files provided are fully editable using any text editor or word processing software application.
