MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a popular digital audio encoding format. It uses a compression algorithm that is designed to greatly reduce the amount of data required fpr the audio recording, yet still sound like a faithful reproduction of the original uncompressed audio to most listeners.

MP3 Player Software
MP3 player software must be installed on your computer in order to listen to MP3 files using your computer sound card and speakers. If you surf the web regularly for music files, you probably already have a MP3 player installed on your computer.

If an MP3 player isn't already installed on your computer, your can download the Apple Quicktime player at no cost.
