Features In This Newsletter

This edition of the Lutheran Music Newsletter is announces two new products and an update of an old favorite. The following sections are provided:

New Christmas Edition

One of the most frequently downloaded files from our web site is the free Christmas Edition chordbook. The Christmas Edition was recently updated with improved piano and guitar chrords. The chordbook has also be expanded and now includes some of our favorite Christmas hymns from the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELCA) and the new Lutheran Service Book (LCMS).

Karaoke Music Files

Many of our customers have asked for karaoke versions of our midi files--that is, midi files with the hymn stanza text embedded in the midi file. Using freely-available karaoke player software, karaoke midi files allow scolling hymn stanza text on your computer, highlighted in sync with the music.

We have started the process of adding karaoke midi files to our product line. Karaoke midi files are now available for purchase at our web site for the Christian Worship hymnal (WELS). We plan to add karaoke midi files for other Lutheran hymnals during 2008. Learn more About Karaoke midi files.

Editor's Update: Karaoke midi files are also now available for Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELCA), Lutheran Book of Worship (ELCA), Lutheran Service Book (LCMS), Lutheran Worship (LCMS), and The Lutheran Hymnal.

Hymnal Concordance

The second product line we are annoucing is our Hymnal Concordance. A concordance is an alphabetical index of all the words in a text or corpus of texts, showing every contextual occurrence of a word. A hymnal concordance provides an index of the words found in a hymnal's stanza texts. Concordances make great gifts for pastors and teachers who use them for study and research.

Lutheran Music provides two concordances for each hymnal: Abridged and Unabridged. The Abridged and Unabridged Concordances are packaged together, and the package containing both can be either downloaded from our web site or received via U.S. Mail.

The Abridged Concordance is a dictionary-like printed book (or PDF file), indexing all the significant words in the hymnal. In order to produce a conveniently-sized book, the Abridged Concordance omits common pronouns, verbs, prepositions, and articles that have minimal search or study value.

The Unabridged Concordance is a browser-based computer reference. It contains references for every word of every hymn.

We have started the process of adding a hymnal concordance product line. Abridged and Unabridged Concordances are now available for purchase at our web site for the Christian Worship hymnal (WELS). We plan to develop additional concordances for other Lutheran hymnals during 2008. Learn more About Concordances.

Editor's Update: Hymnal Concordance is also now available for Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELCA), Lutheran Book of Worship (ELCA), Lutheran Service Book (LCMS), Lutheran Worship (LCMS), and The Lutheran Hymnal.
