Features In This Newsletter

During the past quarter, a lot of excitement has been generated by our new "sing along" hymn music and synchronized video lyrics products. We are devoting this edition of the Newsletter to answering some common questions about these products:

"Sing-Along" Music Formats

Our products support many music file formats, including: midi, mp3, swf, audio CD, and video DVD. These standard formats can be played directly on computers as well as approriate CD players, DVD players, mp3 players and midi organ consoles. To help customers sort out how to use each of the formats, we have prepared a detailed help card that lists all of our products and the music file formats that are supported. Click here to open the free help card in a new browser window.

Embedding "Sing-Along" in PowerPoint

One frequently asked question is whether the "sing-along" hymn music and synchronized lyrics video files in the Hymn Library can be embedded inside a PowerPoint presentation, thus allowing an entire workship service to be sequenced using PowerPoint. The answer is 'yes', this can be done. We use swf format video files (shockwave flash) and you can discover how to embed them by searching the web using Google. The instructions for PowerPoint 2003 and PowerPoint 2007 are different, so click on the appropriate link for your system to search Google for the embedding instructions.

iPod "Sing-Along"

One of our customers wants to listen to hymn music on the Apple iPod player. One way to do this is to purchase the Hymnal MP3 Files product and copy the mp3 files directly to your iPod. You can also purchase the Audio CD product, rip the audio tracks to mp3 format, and copy the ripped mp3 files to your iPod.

Watching a music video with sychronized lyrics on your iPod is a little bit more challenging, but it can be done! iPod video files are mp4 format. Lutheran Music offers videos in swf (shockwave flash) and standard video DVD format. You would have to purchase a separate program from a third party to convert swf (or rip video DVDs) to mp4 format (there are some free programs available that claim to do this also). We have not tried any of these programs, but Lutheran Music does not prevent you from doing this. Let us know if you try this and are successful; we will pass the instructions on to our Newsletter readers.
